Introduction
Bisq requires to be translated to be able to grow at the huge variety of markets where Bisq can be used. Bisq is open for voluntary translations for any language, but only quality translations for languages at main markets will be compensated. They're called core languages, and are the following: French (fr), Chinese (zh_CN, zh_TW), German (de), Italian (it), Japanese (jp), Portuguese (pt, pt_BR), Russian (ru) and Spanish (es).
How to contribute
Bisq uses Transifex to translate the three projects it currently has: bisq-desktop, bisq-website and bisq-subtitles. Tasks are coordinated through #transifex Keybase group and this Kanban board. To translate the Transifex projects strings, contributors need to register at Transifex and ask to be included as translators for a language. Transifex sends notifications to managers and coordinators, but it's better to inform about your petition at Keybase. Contributors willing to be compensated for their task need to specify if the strings translated are a priority for Bisq, and wait for approval as described in growing Bisq. Translations or reviews for languages not assigned as "doing" in the Kanban Translations board could not be compensated.
Objectives
- Keep core languages for bisq-desktop up to date.
There's no budget to keep up to date all the core languages in one DAO cycle. Languages will be translated step by step, starting with the markets which suppose a higher trading volume for Bisq. The Kanban board will be used to keep track of the process.
Guidelines
- Strings labeled as no_translate are strings referring to unused altcoins that should be left untranslated or translated using the original English version. If left translated with the original source, don't submit them for compensation.
- There's no budget for reviews: translated strings will be uploaded and used at the next version release. If a string is confusing, ask for help or leave it for later.
Compensation
- A rate of 0.07 USD/word translated paid in BSQ will be used, but if the total amount to be compensated exceeds the budget, it could be left for the next cycle or not compensated at all.
- Compensation requests for translations are submitted with screenshots of Transifex translation pannel. The filters used to create a valid screenshot are:
translator:'your_username' translated_after:'date_since_last_request'
. This query only counts as translator the last one who made a change to a string.
This example of compensation request can be used. In case of doubt, proceed to #transifex Keybase channel.
